Richard, in his 30ís, lives with his mum and step dad. He has Downs Syndrome and Asbergers and finding it increasingly difficult to manage the stairs and get to the only bathroom. This was leading to a number of behavioural issues. Unfortunately the house wasnít suitable for a stair lift and supported accommodation elsewhere didnít work out for Richard either. The family successfully applied for a disability facilities grant to build a downstairs bedroom and wetroom. They funded some of the work themselves and DTD Charity also contributed. We have heard that Richard loves his new room and is interacting so much more with his family.
